Do’s and dont’s

port-do

Do’s:

When you give thanks to somebody, say “obrigada” as a woman and “obrigado” as a man.

Always accept drinks when offered. That’s the way to appreciate someone’s hospitality.

Also accept food when offered.

Don’ts:

Never speak Spanish to a Portuguese. They dislike to be compared to Spaniards or any other nation, because they strongly adhere to their historic heritage.

Do not insult their heritage.

  • Stay quiet when listening to Fado.
